My wife and I took a trip from home, Radford, Virginia, to my hometown in Michigan, Grosse Pointe. As we were driving West on I-81, I meant to take North 77, but I took the wrong exit and ended up in Wythville. As soon as we got off the exit ramp, our 2019 Prius started to make a loud noise as if we were dragging something beneath the car. As I pulled off into a convenience store parking lot, a lady came running over to us, saying she knew the problem. “My sister had the same problem with her Prius, its the plastic covering that protects the radiator.” As I turned off the car, three fellows appeared, and before I knew it, one of them was underneath the car trying to fix the problem. Not having the right tools, they recommended I get some tape to affix the plastic to the bumper, a temporary fix. While I was in the convenience store looking for some tape, three fellows showed up, one of them holding a metal coat hanger and a pair of metal clippers. Before I knew it, one of them was underneath the car and used the coat hanger to affix the plastic covering to the bumper. No more than 15 minutes later, we were back on the road headed for Michigan. That was a month ago, and the coat hanger is still firmly holding the plastic covering to the bumper. As I witness the insanity of Covid policies and the debacle in Afghanistan, I know that America will be okay in the long run because America’s heart is good. God bless America!!!
