Intercessors for America ( August 10, 2021 had an interesting article about the Metaverse. The Metaverse is a shared virtual 3D world, or worlds, that are interactive, immersive, and collaborative. Just as the physical universe is a collection of planets connected in space, the Metaverse is a collection of metadata that provides information about other data. Neal Stephenson coined the phrase Metaverse in his 1992 dystopian novel “Snow Crash.” The author imagined the decadent virtual realm as an escape from a dismal society run by mega-corporations. Wikipedia defines Metaverse this way: “The Metaverse is a collective virtual shared space including the sum of all virtual worlds and the Internet. It may contain derivatives or copies of the real world, but it is distinct from augmented reality. The word ‘metaverse’ is made up of the prefix meta (meaning beyond) and the stem ‘verse’ (as in universe); the term is typically used to describe the concept of a future iteration of the Internet, made up of persistent, shared, 3D virtual spaces linked into a perceived virtual universe.

Why should you be concerned about the Metaverse? Because sites like Facebook are attempting to capture the human soul in silicon. As more and more people look to cyberspace for their spiritual guidance, these online sources will filter what people see and hear. Do you think Facebook will tolerate churches that speak out against the establishment? Flowing Streams Church in Vero Beach, Florida, that sponsors Tru News with Pastor Rick Wiles or Liberty Fellowship in Kalispell Montana with Pastor Chuck Baldwin, will never get a voice. I don’t think so because preachers who deny the sanctity of LGBT lifestyles and who do not support the Cancel Culture and the Woke Movement will be flagged and punished as “extremists.”

Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook has the vision of transforming Facebook from a social media company into a Metaverse company. These Cyber companies will teach children the spiritual beliefs of the establishment. Facebook is on the cusp of a spiritual revolution where technology is the religion. A few years ago, parents were shocked when their son or daughter announced that they were gay or transgender—now, some young people want to exist as data. BBC and HBO jointly produce a mini-series called “Years and Years.” At one point, the daughter explains that she is a transhumanist, and she wants to exist as data. Transhumanism is a cultural and intellectual movement that believes we can, and should, improve the human condition through the use of advanced technologies. An example of transhumanism is the Borg in the series Star Trek. The Borg are organisms with cybernetic components linked in a hive-mind called “the Collective.”
